Steve Bergstrom, age 59, of Gilbertsville, KY passed away on Friday, March 1, 2019 at the Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center. He was a member of St. Matthew by the Lake Lutheran Church in Benton, KY.
Mr. Bergstrom was born in Chicago, IL on June, 7, 1959 to the late Edward and Mildred Bergstrom. He was a retired carpenter who loved working and was an expert craftsman, leaving us with many lasting examples of his work. Steve's passions were his pets, fishing, poker, model cars and radio controlled vehicles (boats, planes, and cars.) He loved to watch NASCAR and was a fan of the Chicago Bears. He will be remembered fondly by those who loved him as a quiet man of few words but with a great sense of humor. He was someone who was warm and caring, extremely generous, kindhearted, and a strong survivor who battled what life handed him with grace and dignity.
Steve is survived by his sister, Dianne Martinek and husband, Howard, of Gilbertsville, KY; two brothers, Don Bergstrom and wife, Janice of Lindenhurst, IL and Jeffrey Bergstrom and wife, Karen of Mokena, IL; and six nieces and nephews, Randall, Dannielle, Nicole, Michael, Matthew, and Kim.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at 2:00 at St. Matthew by the Lake Lutheran Church Benton, KY with Pastor Colleen Winkler officiating.
