Mr. Morris "Mike" Hammer, age 77 of Benton, KY died on Thursday, March 16, 2017, at Lake Way Nursing & Rehabilitation in Benton, KY. He was a retired conductor for the New York City Transit Authority and the US Postal Service He was a member of The Way in Hardin, KY and was a veteran of the US Army.
Born Tuesday, October 3, 1939 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Louis Hammer and the late Bella (Dellon) Hammer.
Surviving are son, Michael John Hammer of Benton, KY, daughter, Patricia McLeod, husband Tony of Benton, KY, brother, Melvin Hammer of Brooklyn, NY; 5 grandchildren, Lillian Akel, Robert Blaine, Rebecca Pincus, Pamela and Daniel Oringer; and 1 great-grandchild, Arianna Akel.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline (Perazzo) Hammer, his parents, brothers, Marvin Hammer, Benjamin Hammer and Julius Hammer.
A Graveside Funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Marshall Co. Memory Gardens located at Hwy U.S. 641 North Benton, KY 42025 with Rev. Mike Haven officiating.
Interment will follow.
Visitation will be held between 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Collier Funeral Home, 211 West 5th St., Benton, KY 42025.
