Michael Thomas Barnaby, 50, of Gilbertsville, KY, formerly of Lansing, IL, died Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Marshall County Hospital.
“Mikey”, as he’s known to family and friends, was born in Hammond, Indiana on July 17, 1966 to Thomas Edward Barnaby and Gail Catherine Steller Barnaby. He attended Lewis University. Mike attained his captain’s license, which began his lifelong love of the river, lakes and tug boats. He eventually transitioned into the position of Purchasing Agent with ACBL (formerly AEP). He enjoyed his work and made lifelong friends along the way. Mike’s hobbies included following his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers, NASCAR and riding motorcycles.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Downs Barnaby; mother, Gail Barnaby of Romeoville, IL; siblings, Michelle (Keith) Vanderlee of Mokena, IL and Timothy Barnaby of Crown Point, IN; step-children, Jana Hayden of Atlanta, GA, Jamie Hayden of Paducah, and Jody Hayden of Gilbertsville; step-grandchildren, Brenden Boyd, Maia Hayden, Chase Hayden and Lilly Hayden; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; and pets, Heidi and Tinker.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Nicholas Barnaby; and his father, Thomas Edward Barnaby.
Funeral services will be held at 5pm Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Paducah with his friend and co-worker, Trey Gandee, officiating. Visitation will begin at 2pm on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Private burial services will take place at a later date.
