Mrs. Maymie Jewel (Barrett) Hamilton, age 96 of Calvert City, KY., passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2014, at 10:30 p.m. at the Calvert City Convalescent Center in Calvert City, KY.
Born Friday, September 20, 1918 in Gilbertsville, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Kirkland B. Barrett and the late Maude (Jones) Barrett. She was a homemaker and was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Maurice K. Hamilton.
She was a member of Mt. Moriah Primitive Baptist Church.
Surviving are her son, William E. Hamilton, wife Charlotte of Calvert City, KY, her daughter, Karen Chavis, husband Jay of Calvert City, KY, brother, Carl Barrett, wife Lucille of Possum Trot, KY, four grandchildren; Kimberly Kinsall, husband Barry of Calvert City, KY., Kelly Smith of Brentwood, TN., Brandon Larimer of Calvert City, KY., and Brooke Chavis of Louisville, KY., five great grandchildren; Katherine Smith of Baton Rouge, LA., Frankie Smith of Brentwood, TN., Max Chambers of Calvert City, KY., Jesse and Jillian Kinsall both of Calvert City, KY.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Thomas Barrett and Lee Roy Barrett, and three sisters, Myrtle Ricks, Essie Butler and Blonda Clark and her grandson-in-law, Christopher Glenn "Chris" Smith.
Funeral Services will be held Sunday, November 16, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Collier Funeral Home in Benton, KY. Elder Danny Ferrell officiating. Interment will follow the service in Fooks Cemetery, Benton, KY.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until the funeral hour at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 16, 2014, at Collier Funeral Home, 211 West 5th, Benton, KY.
