Smith, Lucille

Ms. Lucille (Mitzi) Smith, 89, of Kirksey, passed away on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at the Murray Calloway County Hospital.

She was born on March 24, 1929 in Detroit, MI to the late Paul and Sally (Kress) Bork.

After teaching special education and first grade in Michigan for ten years, Mrs. Smith retired to move to Kentucky and raise her family. She became the beloved heart and soul of their lives, and became known as "Mom" to many who knew her and loved her. Mrs. Smith was of the Catholic faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hiram B. Smith and one son, James B. Smith.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her daughters, Marty Pace of Murray and Barbara Ross of New Port Richey, FL; three sons, Paul Smith and wife Renee of Kirksey, John Smith and wife Johnna of Farmington, Dan Smith and wife Sue of Largo, FL; 17 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and more wonderful friends than we can count.

A graveside service will be at 1:00 PM on Friday, August 10, 2018 at Mt. Olive Cemetery with Kerry Lambert officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM on Thursday, August 9, 2018 and from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM on Friday, August 10, 2018 at Imes Funeral Home, downtown Murray. Pallbearers will be Reese Smith, Todd Smith, Keith Todd, Kerry Todd, Clay Smith, Chris "Goose" Gossun and Joe Venice.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to the Mt. Olive Cemetery Fund, in care of Stacy Smith, 324 Bluegrass Lane, Kirksey, KY 42054.
