Mr. Emery Leon Clapp, 90 of Benton, KY passed away on Monday, January 2, 2017, at Oakview Manor Healthcare Center in Calvert City, KY. He was a member of the Church Grove United Methodist Church. He was a retired chemical operator at Pennwalt of Calvert City, KY. He was the chairman of the Marshall County Board of Education during the construction of the consolidated Marshall County High School.
Born Saturday, February 27, 1926, he was the son of the late Brack Clapp and the late Alta (Moore) Clapp.
Surviving is his wife of 66 years, Glenda Marie (Alexander) Clapp of Benton, KY; sons, Jimmy L. Clapp of Benton, KY, Dennis Clapp of Madisonville, KY and Martin Clapp of West Paducah, KY; 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Eugene Clapp, sisters, Sadie Jackson and Mamye Leech.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Saturday, January 7, 2017, at Collier Funeral Home, 211 West 5th St., Benton, KY.
A Funeral service will be held Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 12:00 noon in the chapel of the Collier Funeral Home, Benton, KY. Rev. David Garrett and Rev. Mark Coursey will be officiating.
Interment will follow the service in the Mt. Olive United Methodist Church Cemetery in Pryorsburg, KY.
