John
K. Hayes, 63, went to be with our Lord on April 18, 2019. He was born in
Hazard, KY, to the late Carl N. and Mildred C. Hayes, his loving parents, on
November 16, 1955. He grew up in Walkertown, KY, and attended Hazard High
School, before his family moved to Lebanon, Ohio, and John graduated from
Lebanon High School in 1973. John joined the US Army and was stationed in Fort
Hood, Texas. After the Army, John graduated from Morehead State University.
Shortly after, he met his wonderful wife, Gail Smith. They moved to the Benton,
KY area where John worked as a Park Ranger.
Survivors
are his much-loved son, Jonathan (Brianna); sister Beverly Hayes Baker of
Lebanon OH; brothers, Ron (Martha) of Charlotte, NC, Gary of Waverly, OH,
Darryl (Melinda) of Hoover, AL, and Rick (Ellie) of Chillicothe, OH; and many
nieces and nephews. He also had special friends in his ex-wife Cindy and her
husband, Kent Lawrence, and Jo Amber Barnes, who were always there for him. He
was preceded in death by his wife, Gail, his parents, and brother, Wynn, of
Lebanon, OH. John loved hunting and Kentucky basketball.
John
was a God-fearing and God-loving man. John was baptized in and a member of
Lakeview Baptist Church in Benton, KY. Services will held at a future date.
