Joe Mason Norwood, Sr.

Joe M. Norwood, Sr, 95, of Waverly, TN, passed away at 5:55pm on Saturday, April 6, 2019. Joe went to join the love of his life Dortha "Dot" Nelle (Lovett) Norwood in Heaven so that they could get back to bowling, fishing and watching the Cubs and Brewers on the TV.



He was born in Olive, KY on February 8, 1924 to the late Connie B and Colla Lee (Nelson) Norwood.



Proud World War II Veteran, from 1943 to 1946, Joe was in the Navy on the U.S.S. Parker as a Gunner's Mate. On March 16, 1946 in Missouri, Joe Married the love of his life, Dortha Nell Lovett. They went on to have 7 children, 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. He was a member of Fairdealing Church of Christ.



Joe worked for Ford Motor Company, Michigan and American Motors in Kenosha, WI. After his retirement he worked with his good friend Don helping him build garages or repair anything that needed repairing. He also worked with his daughters Lee and Cheryl at Dot's place in Waterford, WI. He was the best utensil roller and dishwasher they had! Joe was also a big fan of the TV show Hee Haw.



Joe is survived by his five loving children, June Leisky husband Red of Waverly, TN, Dory Weis husband Mark of Burlington, WI, Cheryl Gapko husband Bill of Waverly, TN, Joe M. Norwood, Jr. wife Laurie of Burlington, WI, and Lee Rehberg of Burlington, WI; 12 loving grandchildren, Mike Reeves wife Gina of Kenosha, WI, Danny Reeves wife Sarah of Quinton, VA, Jeana Swanson husband John of Lyons, WI, Marcia Abramowski husband Brett of Franklin, WI, Trisha Peterson husband Ryan of Salem, WI, Krista Weis husband Artie Nabor of Burlington, WI, Stevie Norwood of Burlington, WI, Chris Norwood, wife Brittany Lathe, Tyler Norwood of Burlington, WI, Sarah Norwood of Burlington, WI, Josh Rehberg of Burlington, WI, and Timmy Rehberg of Burlington, WI; 19 loving great grandchildren, Andy, Samantha, Noah, Amanda and Lucas Reeves, Calvin, Elisa and Joyanna Reeves, Daniel and Gwen Swanson, Logan, Brayden and Addison Ambramowski, Easton and Evy Peterson, Kaylee Norwood, Veda and Maddie Rehberg and Noah Norwood; sister, Agnes Nimmo; sister-in-law, Norma Jean Gregory; nephew, Bobbie Gregory; nieces, Trisha Gildersleeves, Carolyn Wallaces husband Richard, Theresa Lovett; and many many friends.



He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Dortha Nell (Lovett) Norwood; his parents; his father and mother in law, George and Ola Lovett; infant son, Joel Norwood; infant daughter, Ronda Norwood; brothers in law, Louis Nimmo, Glynn "Tommy" Lovett, Robert Gregory; infant nephew, Nimmo.



Funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm on Thursday, April 11, 2019 in the Chapel of the Collier Funeral Home, Benton, KY, with Michael C. Reeves officiating.



Interment with military honors will follow in the Fairdealing Cemetery, Benton, KY.



Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at Collier Funeral Home located at 211 West 5th St, Benton, KY, 42025.
