Mr. Jimmy S. Rutland, 82, of Dexter, went home to be with his heavenly father on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at the Anna Mae Owen Hospice House in Murray with his family by his side.
Mr. Rutland was born in Stewart Co., TN on February 5, 1936 to the late Guy Rutland and Mary Evie Houston. Jimmy honorably served his country as a United States Marine and later retired from the United States Postal Service. He was a member of Faith Tabernacle Church.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Edna Wolford and Peggy Avery, as well as his parents.
Those he lovingly leaves behind include his wife, Martha Rutland of Dexter; a daugher, Sheila Miller (Mike) of Dexter; a brother, Don Rutland (Leta) of Murray; one grandson, Jeremy Miller (Leanne) of Murray and three great grandsons, Karson, Konner and Kaven.
The funeral service for Mr. Rutland is scheduled for 2 PM on Monday, September 17, 2018 at Imes Funeral Home & Crematory, downtown Murray. Brett Miles will officiate and burial will follow at Temple Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers include, Mike Miller, Jeremy Miller, Larry Gearheart, Thomas Gearheart, Herbert Avery and Ricky Ramsey.
His family welcomes visitors from 10 AM- 2 PM on Monday, September 17, 2018 at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Murray Calloway County Endowment for Healthcare, 803 Poplar Street, Murray, KY 42071. Donation envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
