Harold Wilson 88, of Fancy Farm, died at 9:25 P.M., Friday night at the Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center in Paducah.

Mr. Wilson was a lifelong member of St. Jerome Catholic Church in Fancy Farm and a member of the Knights of Columbus.  He was a KENTUCKY PROUD farmer as he owned and managed a family dairy, tobacco, and grain operation for nearly 50 years. He also served proudly as a magistrate for the Carlisle County Fiscal Court for a number of years.

An avid sports fan, he would root for the Kentucky schools, but especially for his Wildcats.  He loved baseball and was a diehard  Cardinal’s  enthusiast. When he was not rooting for his favorite teams, he always rooted for the underdog, as he did with many things in life.  He enjoyed horse racing’s Triple Crown races, the Kentucky Derby being his favorite.  He was usually pretty lucky with his bets!

Mr. Wilson is survived by two daughters, Joan (Terry) Carter of Louisville, KY and Helen (Todd) Shupe of Independence, KY.  He is survived by five sons, Alan (Phyllis) Wilson, Gene Wilson, and Mark (Lori) Wilson of Fancy Farm, Tom Wilson of Paducah, and Bob (LorryBeth) Wilson of Wickliffe. Also, 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren are living.  Three sisters, Sister Dorothy Wilson of Nazareth, KY, Ruth Collins of Lexington, KY, and Rose Nell Douthit of Oldsmar, FL. and a brother, James Wilson, of Fancy Farm still survive.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Betty Wilson.  Also preceding him were his parents, Leslie and Beatrice Wilson, his sisters, Shirley and Pauline, as well as four brothers, Joe, Cloyd, Charlie, and Phillip.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday March 16th at St. Jerome in Fancy Farm.  Father Darrell Venters will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M, Friday March 15th at the church as well as Saturday morning after 9:00 AM, prior to the funeral mass.  Brown Funeral Home of Mayfield is in charge of the arrangements.

Pallbearers will be the grandsons of Mr. Wilson.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for contributions to The Christopher House, c/o St. Jerome Catholic Church, P.O Box 38 Fancy Farm, KY 42039 or to the Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center, 1530 Lone Oak Road, Paducah, KY  42003.
