Mr. Frank Gilbert (Cutter)Tomsic, Sr., age 93 of Calvert City, KY, passed away at 12:36 a.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at his home.

Loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and the humble servant of The Lord Jesus Christ, Frank was born Monday, September 5, 1921 in Strabane, PA, he was the son of the late Michael Tomsic and the late Gertrude (Hyber) Tomsic.

Frank honorably served his country in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II. After 31 months of duty he was employed by the B.F. Goodrich Chemical Company in Louisville. While living in Louisville, he met his future beloved wife Flo Gaus. They were married on July 31, 1942. He was then given the opportunity to start the Calvert City plant. He retired from B.F. Goodrich after 37 years of service. Frank was a 60 year member of the American Legion Post 236, where he served as Commander for many years. His service also included being a life time and founding member of VFW post 5739.

Frank was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, he was the last of the founding members. The first organizing meeting took place in his home, on December 15, 1952. All the founding members did hands on work to construct the church. He was the past chairman of the Parish Council, he was usher and greeter over the past 56 years. Frank and Flo were chosen as the outstanding senior award (Sophia Award) in 2005. Frank organized and coached the St. Pius X Elementary School basketball program until the school closed in 1968. He organized the first little league program in 1955 and coached for over 10 years. Frank was also the past park commissioner, member of the Recreational Association, past member of the Lions Club, United Fund Board, Cub Scout Master pack 65 and was on the board of directors with Republic Bank. Frank was also a huge sports fan, bridge player and gardener. Frank and Flo were humbled and honored to be chosen as Grand Marshalls for the 2002 Fourth of July Ameribration Parade in Calvert City.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 72 years, Florence M. (Gaus) "Flo" Tomsic of Calvert City, KY, sons, Frank G. Tomsic, Jr. of Calvert City, KY and James Robert Tomsic of Michigan, sister, Agnes Bostjancice of Strabane, PA; 4 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Michael Tomsic, Joseph Tomsic and John Tomsic, three sisters, Josephine Verholtz, Mary Pleskovich and Dorothy Lesko.

A Memorial Mass will be held Monday, April 6, 2015 at 10:00 a.m at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Calvert City, KY. Father David Kennedy, Father Anthoni Ottagan and Rev. Adelle Ambler officiating.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM on Monday, April 6, 2015, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Calvert City, KY.
