Mrs. Harrison resided in Benton from 1940 until moving in late 2010 to Gaither Suites.  She was born on April 1, 1913 to Odie and Effie Simms Watson in a farmhouse between Milburn and Bardwell in Carlisle County.  Following graduation from Bardwell High School, Frances trained at the Mayfield High School of Beauty Culture, then moved to Benton to work at Evelyn’s Beauty Shop until opening her own Frances’ Beauty Shop in Benton in 1941.

She married Marshall County native BJ Harrison in 1942 and operated the beauty shop until the birth of their older son, Kenneth, in 1945.  She then became a full-time homemaker.  Through her affiliation with the First Missionary Baptist Church of Benton, where she had held membership since the early 1940s, she was active in various groups within the church and its Baptist associational affiliation.

The Harrisons resided on what is now the Old Symsonia Road in Benton until moving to the family farm on Breezeel School Road in 1980.  She stayed at the farm for a year after the death of her husband in 2006, ending a 64 year marriage.  She resided in Benton’s Stilley House from 2007-2010.

Her immediate family consists of sons Kenneth and his wife, Tarinee, of Nashville, Tenn., and Karl Harrison and his wife, Julie, of Lone Oak; grandsons Troy Harrison and wife, Jean, of Nashville; Chad Harrison of Nashville; Scott Harrison and his wife, Sasha, of Jackson, Miss., and Matt Harrison and his wife, Bobbi, and their sons, Andrew and Jack Harrison, also of Jackson; stepgrandson Patrick Green of Paducah; stepgrandaughter Jill Thurman and her husband, Jim, of Chesterfield, Mo., and their daughters Jillian and Sophia.
