Mr. Daniel P. York, age 72, of Tucson, Arizona formerly of Hardin, Kentucky died on Thursday, October 5, 2017.
Dan was born August 6, 1945 in Benton, Kentucky to the late Latus York and Jewell Lamb York. He was also preceded in death by his three brothers, Alvin York, Neal York, and Jerry York; and two sisters, Lena Darnell and Shirley Thompson.
Dan graduated from South Marshall High School and served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He married his wife, Mary Jane York on February 14, 1981 in Battle Creek, Michigan and after a honeymoon trip to Tucson, Arizona, he and Mary fell in love with the dessert and mountains and decided to make their home there. He enjoyed the outdoors with his horses, horticulture, farming, and animals. He also worked with the Arizona Department of Corrections and served on the Vail School District Board for several years.
Dan is survived by his wife, six children, grandchildren, one sister, Annis Arant, Hardin, KY; and nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held in Tucson, Arizona.
