Mr. Charles Reed Stone, age 85 of Benton, KY passed away Sunday, January 28, 2018, at Murray-Calloway Co. Hospital in Murray, KY.
Born Sunday, March 20, 1932 in Benton, KY, he was the son of the late Barney Stone and the late Hester (Reed) Stone. He was a retired Instrument Technician from Murray State University, Murray, KY. Also, he was a freshman on the 1948 Brewers Kentucky State Championship basketball team. He was a member of New Zion Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Deborah (Thweatt) Stone of Benton, KY, three daughters, Regina Castleberry of Collierville, TN, Sheila Slack, husband Jimmy of Hardin, KY and Carla Marshall of Hardin, KY, brother, Glen Stone, wife Marlene of Benton, KY. Also surviving are grandchildren; Angie Pate, husband, Mike of Collierville, TN, Stacy Castleberry of Lakeland, TN, Jamie Slack of Hardin, KY, Casey Slack, wife Kayla of Almo, KY, Jeremy Marshall, wife Della of Almo, KY, Robin Conner, husband Brian of Benton, KY, Nathan Marshall, wife Samantha of Paducah, KY. Great grandchildren; Sydney Pate of Knoxville, TN, Nicholas Pate of Knoxville, TN, Jovie Slack of Almo, KY, Mia Gamble of Almo, KY, Eli Marshall of Almo, KY, Ayla Conner of Benton, KY Charli Conner of Benton, KY and Tate Marshall of Paducah, KY.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at 2:00 p.m in the chapel of the Collier Funeral Home, Benton, KY. Rev. Kory Cunningham officiating. Interment will follow the services in the Thweatt Cemetery, Benton, KY.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at Collier Funeral Home, 211 West 5th, Benton, KY.
