Mrs. Betty Kinney Haltom, age 87 of Benton, KY died on Thursday, October 4, 2018, at Marshall Co. Hospital in Benton, KY. She was a member of Church Grove United Methodist Church and was a retired Registered Nurse working for both Lourdes and Western Baptist Hospital. She and her husband generously donated to the Marshall County Hospital Foundation, funding the purchase of land and construction of a medical office building for the Marshall County Hospital.
Mrs. Haltom was an avid bridge player and loved Bingo. She enjoyed fishing and camping. She will be remembered as always smiling, happy, and had a gift for keeping people laughing.
Born Thursday, October 9, 1930 in Benton, KY, she was the daughter of the late Jim Kinney and the late Eura (Owens) Kinney.
Surviving are her husband, Joe Tom Haltom of Benton, KY, daughters, Toni Griffy, husband Ben of Benton, KY, Tina Thompson of Paducah, KY and Traci Thompson of Paducah, KY, sister, Jean Neal of Benton, KY, 5 grandsons, 5 great-granddaughters, 2 step great-granddaughters, 3 great-grandsons, and 1 great great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Teri Thompson, step-son, Stephen Haltom, brothers, Taz Kinney, Alvin Kinney and Jewell Kinney, and sister, Louise Hiett.
A Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, October 7, 2018 at Collier Funeral Chapel located at 211 West 5th St. Benton, KY 42025, Bro. Dave Garrett and Bro. Joel Frizzell officiating.
Interment will follow in Haltom Cemetery, Benton, KY.
Visitation will be held between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Collier Funeral Home, Benton, KY.
