Dr. Alta Virginia Presson, 98, of Paducah, passed away at 10:35 AM on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at Ray & Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center in Paducah.
Alta received her Doctorate in Nutrition at Purdue University and was a Nutrition Professor at Murray State University and Northern Arizona University. She was a veteran of the US Army during WWII and a member of Lone Oak First Baptist Church in Paducah.
She is survived by two sisters, Luda Johnson of Reidland and Annie Cox of Washington D.C.; two grandsons, Michael Presson (Leslie) of Fairhope, AL and Bill Presson (Terri) of Hoover, AL; four great grandchildren, Chase Presson (Brittany) of Memphis, TN, Allie Cate Reynolds (Burke) of Atlanta, GA, Blake Presson (Jennifer) of Riverside, AL, and Caitlin King (Todd) of Birmingham, AL; two great great grandchildren, Joshua and Jackson Presson; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Terry and Grace Taylor; husband, Dr. William O. Presson; son, Capt. Billie Taylor Presson; and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Hughes Funeral Home in Paducah with Chase Presson officiating. Burial will follow at Marshall County Memory Gardens in Benton.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
