Norma Jean Owen, age 81 of Eddyville, KY died on Sunday, April 3, 2016, at Caldwell County Hospital in Princeton, KY. She was the CEO/President of California Joy, Inc., a manufacturer of women's swimwear for 31 years. She was responsible for the implementation of the design on the pocket of their children's jeans line, California Jollies.
She was a strong woman of God, and blessed the lives of those who came in contact with her.
Born Thursday, May 31, 1934 in Johnson County, IL, she was the daughter of the late Loren Bishop and the late Nellie May (Horsley) Bishop. She was the wife of the late Rev. Richard Donald Owen.
Surviving are sons, Donald Owen of Eddyville, KY and Larry Owen of Covnia, CA, daughter, Linda Shepherd of Sacramento, CA, sister, Violet Black of Florida, 11 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Jerry Bishop, Donald Bishop and Harold Bishop, one sister, Pauline Devine and one great-grandchild, Cory Owen.
A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Collier Funeral Chapel located at 211 West 5th St. Benton, Kentucky 42025.
Interment will follow in the Provine Cemetery, Benton, KY.
Visitation will be held between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 8, 2016 at Collier Funeral Home.
