Mr. Joseph Ben "Benny" Holland, age 70 of Kuttawa, KY, passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at the Christian Care Center, Kuttawa, KY. He was a retired Operator for the Local 181 International Union of Operating Engineers and was a veteran of the US Army and served during Vietnam with the 1st Battalion 27th Infantry Regiment Wolfhounds. He was a member of Grand Rivers Baptist Church. Mr. Holland was an avid U.K. Basketball fan. He was also known as "Huggy Bear" to his co-workers.

Born Monday, February 25, 1946 in Golconda, IL, he was the son of the late Charles Holland and the late Alene (Bonnell) Holland.

Surviving are his daughter, Sally Jo King, husband Craig of Kuttawa, KY, brother, Charles Ray Holland of Benton, KY, granddaughter, Tiffany McFadden, husband Andy of Paducah, KY, great granddaughter, Rylee McFadden of Paducah, KY, special friend, Brieze Hernandez, and beloved sidekick, Pockets.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Charlene Shelby.

Memorial Services will be held Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 12:00 noon in the chapel of the Collier Funeral Home, Benton, KY. Bro. Curtis Harrell will officiate.

Friends may visit with the family between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon on Saturday, June 26, 2016 at Collier Funeral Home, Benton, KY.

The family asks that memorial contributions be given in the form of donations of dog food or dog treats brought to the funeral home, donated by the family in Joseph's and Pockets' name to the shelter he rescued Pockets from, the Mary Hall Ruddiman Shelter, 24 Just-A-Mere Rd., Marion, KY 42064. Donations may also be made directly to the shelter at this address.
