Sandy Medina, age 70 of Smithland died Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville. She was born the daughter of the late Otis G. Jones, Sr. and Mamie G. Jones of Smithland. She was a master cosmetologist holding a professional license in both Georgia and Kentucky. She loved sewing and quilting. Her grandchildren were the love of her life; they affectionately called her "Grandy". She was of the Pentecostal faith.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, December 14, 2019 at Keeling & Goodman Funeral Home with Rev. Joseph West officiating. Graveside services will be Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at Providence Cemetery in Cartersville, GA. Visitation will be Saturday, December 14, 2019 from 12:00 p.m. until the funeral hour. Keeling & Goodman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband: Alfonso Medina of Smithland; her son: Jason Medina (Kristy) of Brookhaven, GA; her daughters: Jennifer Medina-McCormick (Bryce) of Marietta, GA, and Stefanie Sweany (Stephen) of Dallas, GA; her sisters: Nancy Rudd (Maurice) of Smithland, Carolyn Johnson (Ronnie) of Smithland, and Vickie Tracy (Stewart) of Smithland; and her grandchildren: Reagan Joy Sweany, Ryann Faith Sweany, both of Dallas, GA, Samuel Noah McCormick, and Olivia Harper McCormick, both of Marietta, GA.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her brothers: Otis G. Jones, Jr., and Terry Jones; and her sisters: Kay Jones, and Delores Griffin.
