Mr. Paul Cathey, age 77, of Benton, KY, died Sunday, August 14, 2016, at Baptist Health in Paducah, KY. He was a coal sampler with TVA and served honorably in the United States Marine Corps. He was a member of the Oak Valley Church Of Christ. He was instrumental in starting the tradition of decorating Mike Miller County Park for the holiday season.
Mr. Cathey is survived by his wife of 58 years Youlane Cathey, son Craig Cathey and his wife Lori of Paducah, KY, 2 step-grandsons, William Black of Salt Lake City, UT and Eric Black of Ledbetter, KY; brother-in-law Wayne "Duck" Swift and his wife Eva of Benton, KY and niece Darlene Harvey and her husband Chris of Benton, KY and his beloved dog Weebo.
Mr. Cathey was preceded in death by his parents the late Reggie and Estell (Copeland) Cathey.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday August 17, 2016 in the chapel of the Collier Funeral Home with David Hendrickson and Mike Farmer officiating. Burial will follow in the Benton Church of Christ Cemetery.
Visitation will be held between the hours of 5:00 pm and 8:00 pm on Tuesday August 16, 2016 at Collier Funeral Home, 211 W 5th St; Benton, KY 42025.
