Berg, Sr., Lyle
Rev. Lyle Wayne Berg Sr., age 67 of Maysville, WV. went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at his current home in Burna, Ky.
Rev. Berg was a missionary in the Philippines for ten years and was the former pastor of Bethel Pentecostal Church in Petersburg, WV. for twenty five years. He was a building contractor and also retired from the Grant County Board of Education as bus driver and transportation director. He was a loving husband and father and adored by all his grandchildren. While he loved fishing for trout in the North Fork river, anyone acquainted with Lyle knew that his first priority, was fishing for souls.
He was born August 10, 1949 at Jordan Run, WV and was the son of the late Ebert and Irene (Alt) Berg. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond Ebert Berg and Roger Lee Berg; one sister,Thera Mae “Sudie” Berg, and one great grandson.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Linda Kay (Davis) Berg; two sons, Steve and Daria Carr of Thornville, Ohio and Lyle “Zeke” and Jae Berg of Marion, KY; three daughters, Jodi and Charles Southerly of Petersburg, WV, Sara and Israel Sanders of Salem, KY, and Joy and Josh Abell of Smithland, KY; four brothers: Jack, Delmer, Rusty, and Danny Berg; nine grandchildren; one great grandchild; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation for family and friends will be at Schaeffer Funeral Home Friday March 10th from 6:00 to 9:00pm and Funeral Service will be held at Bethel Pentecostal Church on Rt. 220 South, Petersburg, WV on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Phillip Sanders and Rev. Paul Markee officiating. Interment will be at Berg Family Cemetery, Maysville, WV.
