Heaven just got a little funnier when Louis Albert Rosa “Butchie” passed away at the age of 78 on Saturday, June 29, 2019 after years of health struggles and living his life’s slogan “Keep On, Keeping On!” He was born October 23, 1940 to Louis and Lucille
(Wolgan) Rosa in Peoria, IL and moved to Kentucky Lake after his retirement from Komatsu Dresser. He graduated from Farmington High School in 1959.
He was proceeded in death by his wife Sharon (Charleton) who left behind her son Bill, his parents, Louis & Lucille Rosa & brother-in-law, Bill Fritz. Surviving are his beloved family: 2 Daughters whom he loved dearly; Kelly York (David) of Gilbertsville,
KY & Tammy Fidler (Gordon) of Chatham, IL. Grandchildren who he thought the world of: Allie (Raul) Mendez, Zoe, Garrett, and Grant Fidler and one Adorable Great-Grandaughter, Camila Belle. Also surviving are his sisters who each held a special place in
his heart: Elaine Velure (Kenny) of Sioux Falls, ND, Susie Fritz of Edelstein, IL, Eileen Conard (Howard) of Springfield, IL. He had several cousins, many nieces and nephews that he adored, which included Steve and Sarah Fritz, who live nearby and were
so helpful with his care giving. Lastly, Paul Williamson of Peoria, whom he loved and thought of as his own son, along with many, many dear friends who meant the world to him!
A special thank you to Mercy Health Hospice and his wonderful caretakers who he grew to Love over the past year.
Also special gratitude to a wonderful friend known as “Maw”, (Ramona Cone.) She lived across the hall from my dad in the nursing home. She was a family friend’s mother whom we all came to know and love dearly. She was 92 years old and she and my dad would
always chat, wave, and many evenings sing hymns together.
In his younger years, Louie was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing. He is the previous owner of Ron and Louie’s Hunt Club in Miller City, IL. He loved competing in bass fishing tournaments with his wife Sharon and entertained many friends on
Kentucky Lake. Often, he was the entertainer with his stories, jokes, music and political opinions (and yes, he had some).
Louie enjoyed mowing his yard on the lake. He also loved to garden, both vegetables and flowers. Frequently he gave away much of what he grew. What he did keep, he would eat or can. His family thoroughly enjoyed his famous canned pickled beets. He was also
a wonderful cook.
Louie was a member of the Marshall County Elks Club. He spent half of the year in Okeechobee, FL where he was a member of the Elks, Moose, Eagles & VFW clubs. He LOVED his country and STRONGLY supported the constitution! His friends there were like family
to him. He was a history buff, loved music...especially country, rock and roll, and gospel. But most of all he loved his family. His daughters meant the world to him and their hearts are heavy at their loss. His Christian upbringing surfaced a lot during
the past years as he sung his favorite gospel songs, talked about the scriptures and shared his memory of being baptized in a creek in Peoria. We can only imagine God’s laughter when Louie showed up in heaven, looked at him and said one of his famous lines,
“Let me tell you something....”. Louie, you will be forever missed by all who knew you!
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Twin Lakes Worship Center in Benton, Ky
Memorials can be made to Twin Lakes Worship Center or Marshall County Elks.
