Eddie Lee Guess, 58, of Smithland passed away at 4:00am on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN.

Mr. Guess was a locomotive mechanic at Progress Rail in Mayfield and owner of Eddie’s Chevron in Smithland and a member of Second Baptist Church in Smithland. He was a local motorist and loved drag racing and the love of his friends and family.

Surviving is his wife of 32 years, Kay Guess of Smithland; one daughter, Addie Marie Guess of Smithland and future son-in-law, Dean Hackney; one sister, Debbie Guess of Calvert City; and his two dogs, Scrappy and Trudy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Willaus Guess and Lila Crouch Guess.

Memorial services will be at 3:00pm on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at the Smithland Second Baptist Church with the Rev. Fred Lowrance officiating.

Friends may visit the family from 11:00am to service hour on Saturday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made in his honor to the American Heart Association.
