Carolyn Wommack Robichaud Died May 27, 2019
Born February 24, 1941 in Marshall County, KY to Joel Benjamin “Bennie” and Amy (Stockton) Wommack.
Married to John C. Robichaud for 54 years in May. They have two children, Nicole Robichaud Fann (Joey) of Huntsville, AL and Shawn C. Robichaud of Nashville, TN. Four grandchildren: Josey Caroline Fann (13), Jackson Clark Robichaud (12), Benjamin Douglas Robichaud (10), and Claire Elizabeth Robichaud (9). One brother, Joel B. Wommack (Carolyn) of Collegeville, PA.
Carolyn graduated from North Marshall High School in 1959. She received her B.A. in English from David Lipscomb College in 1963 and her M.A. in Secondary Education from Murray State University in 1983.
Carolyn began her career as a secretary at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing. After a year there, she began teaching English, a career and love that continued for 39 years, starting at Sharpe Elementary (1964-1974), North Marshall Junior High School (1974-1988), and Marshall County High School (1988-2003-retired).
During her teaching career, she was a co-presenter of writing workshops, selected participant of the Purchase Area Writing Project at Murray State University (1988), recipient of Outstanding High School Teacher Award from MSU (1996), member of site based decision making council at MCHS, Marshall County Retired Teachers Association, National Council Teachers of English, KY Council Teachers of English, Purchase Area Writing Project Book Club and a charter member of KY Alpha Rho, Alpha Delta Kappa.
She was a life-long member of the Briensburg Church of Christ, teaching Sunday School and being an active member of the LLLL (Ladies Laboring in Love for the Lord) and a member of the Associated Ladies of Lipscomb.
Carolyn loved spending time with her family, gardening and bird watching in her beautiful backyard.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 30, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Collier Funeral Home, Benton, KY. Gary Clark will officiate.
Interment will follow the service in the Marshall County Memory Gardens, Benton, KY.
Friends may visit with the family Thursday, May 30, 2019 after 11:00 a.m. until the funeral service hour at 1:00 p.m. at the Collier Funeral Home, 211 West 5th St., Benton, KY 42025.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Western KY Youth Camp and/or New Pathways for Children in Melber, KY.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the kindness and care provided by Dr. Terri H. Telle and Dr. William L. Skinner and staff over the last 5 years.
