Charles Peeler, Sr., age 82, passed away at the Ray & Kay Eckstein Hospice Center in Paducah, on Sunday, August 12, 2018.
He grew up in Cash near Tamms, Illinois and his first real job was on a shrimp boat named Noah’s Ark. He went on to work for Federal Barge Line for sixteen years as a dry dock supervisor and the seventeen more years for Ingram Barge Line with the same position. As a matter of fact, the dry dock at Columbus, Kentucky bears his name.
He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Betty Jo Busby Peeler of Columbus; his daughters, Betty J. Peeler of Paducah, Edna Haynes of Barlow, and Beth Ward of Columbus; his sons, Charles W. Peeler, Jr. of Mayfield and Louis B. Peeler of Sneeds, Florida; his sisters, Orba Kelley of America, Illinois, Mary Bartalozzi of Scottsville, Illinois, Beulah Peeler of Virden, Illinois, Joyce Boblitt of Palmyra, Illinois, and Betty Peeler of Virden, Illinois; 22 grandchildren, Halie Gaskins, Donald W. Haynes, Angel Showalter, Missy Haynes, Amy Parsley, Beth Ward, Michael Johnson, Sky A. Moore, Heidi Pfaff, Brandon Ward, Darrian Ward, Lyric Cross, Matthew Peeler, Amber Nollteet, Allen Peeler, James Peeler, Timothy Peeler, Hunter Peeler, Tammy Peeler, C W Peeler, Stormy Peeler, and Rebecca Salvo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Burdett Peeler and Edna May Berry Peeler; son, Stanley Glen Peeler.
Services will be held on Sunday, August 19, 2018 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Wickliffe at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Buddy Walls officiating. Burial will follow in Provo Cemetery near Tamms, Illinois.
Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
