William Donald Armbruster, 87, of Murray, passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2015 at his home after a long battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family.

Bill, as he was known by his family and friends, was born in Columbus, Ohio to George M. Sr., and Georgia Arlean Armbruster on March 21, 1928. The family moved to Mansfield, Ohio when Bill was three years old. He attended St. Peters Catholic School and Mansfield Sr. High School. Upon the death of his older brother, George M. Armbruster, Jr., a United States Naval Air Force Pilot who was shot down during a bombing mission over Yap Island on July 27, 1944, Bill joined the United States Coast Guard and served on the U.S.S. Hutchison PF45. After his honorable discharge, Bill returned to Mansfield and was employed by Westinghouse Corp for 30 years. He married June L. Dilgard of Ashland, Ohio, on November 25, 1950. They lived in Ashland for 37 years and raised four children. Upon Bill's retirement in 1987, they moved to Ocala, Florida. Bill enjoyed working part time as a courtesy driver for Deluca Toyota for eight years. After living in Ocala for 24 years, Bill and June moved to Murray, Kentucky in November 2011. 

Bill was a member of St. Marks Methodist Church in Ocala, FL, life member of Elks Lodge #1360-Ashland, OH, and the National Elks Association.

Bill was preceded in death by both parents, one brother and one step grandson. 

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 65 years; two sons, George M. Armbruster III of Ewen, MI and William J. Armbruster (Shirley) of Jeromesville, OH; two daughters, Lorinda J. "Lori" Murdock of Murray; and Jennifer L. Armbruster (Jenny) of Murray and Ashland, OH. He is also survived by three grandsons including Bryan Murdock of Murray, two granddaughters including Meaghan Lawrence (Gary) of Murray, one step granddaughter, five great grandchildren and four step great grandchildren.

Imes Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements. A celebration of Bill's life will be held at a later date. The family requests that expressions of sympathy be sent to the Anna Mae Owens Hospice House, Murray, KY.
