Velda Linn

Mrs. Velda Linn, 90, of Murray died Sunday, September 18, 2016 at the Murray Calloway County Hospital.

Mrs. Linn was born on December 19, 1925 to the late William Howell Starks and Mary Darnall Starks.  During WWII, she worked for Hudson Motor in Detroit, Michigan making B29 bombers. Mrs. Linn was retired from Murray Calloway County Hospital Food Service and was a member of Glendale Road Church of Christ.

In addition to her parents, Velda was preceded in death by her first husband, Clayton McKenzie; her second husband, Boyd Linn; three brothers, Lowell Starks, Neal Starks and Bernard Starks; two sisters, Mary Jo Newberry and Betty Burnett.

Velda lovingly left behind a son, Larry McKenzie, Sr. (Joyce) of Murray; two daughters, Marilyn York (Keith) of Murray and Patricia McKenzie and friend, (Laura May Gourley) of Hickory; two step children, Randy Linn and Carolyn Parker; a brother, J.B. Starks (Janice) of Kirksey; a sister, Glenda Murphy (Paul) of Murray; five grandchildren, Michael York, Larry Dwayne McKenzie, Jr., Adam McKenzie (Jamie), Jacob McKenzie (Jasmine)  and Dawn Hall (Jeremiah); six great grandchildren; Tuvia, Achazia, Caedmon, Liam and Cora McKenzie and Eva Hall; four step grandchildren and seven step great grandchildren.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 AM on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at Imes Funeral Home & Crematory, downtown Murray.  John Dale and Kerry Lambert will officiate.  Burial will follow at Murray Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Larry Dwayne McKenzie, Jr., Adam McKenzie, Keith Oakley, Chris Starks, Kelly Starks and Karl Smith.  Honorary Pallbearers include Kenneth Starks, Glen Starks, Phil Starks and Jimmy Starks.

The family will receive visitors from 5-8 PM on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Michael York Fund c/o Imes Funeral Home. Michael is the autistic grandson of Mrs. Linn.
