Samuel "Sam" E. Gourley

Samuel “Sam” E. Gourley age 79 of Cunningham died Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at 2:11 p.m. from results of single vehicle accident.  Sam was retired from P & L Railroad after 32 years of service and from farming.  He was a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church of Lowes, KY.  Sam & Beverly were married 61 years, July 27, 2018.  Sam loved to play pranks on others and always had a joke or rhyme to tell.  He loved to play checkers and was a member of the Cunningham “Rook House.”  He was very devoted to his family and loved them all with everything in him.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Beverly Cash Gourley of Cunningham, son, Jeff Gourley and daughter, Laura May Gourley both of Hickory, three grandsons, Justin Gourley of Benton, Jeremy Gourley and wife, Samantha Gourley of Oak Harbor, Washington, Jordan Gourley and wife, Crystal of Benton;one great-grandson, Jace Gourley and one great-granddaughter, Jae Lynn Gourley  both of Benton; three brothers, Dennis (Vicki) Gourley of Lone Oak, Luther  (Sandy) Gourley Melber, and  Ricky (Angela) Gourley of Cunningham; several nieces and nephews and cousins.

Preceding in death were his parents, Otha & Elsie Reasons  Gourley; son, Kevin Dwight Gourley; one brother, Charles Gourley; Daughter-in-law, Lora Payne Gourley and one nephew, Chad Gourley.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, August 5, 2018 at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, 5321 Ky. 339, Lowes, Kentucky, with Rev.Tim Ivey officiating.  Burial will follow at Owens Chapel Cemetery in Melber, KY.  Visitation will  be held Saturday, August 4, 2018 from 4:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
