Joyce Duncan Thorne

Joyce Thorne, 79, of Dexter died Friday, January 9, 2015 at the Murray Calloway County Hospital.

Mrs. Thorne was born June 13, 1935 in Calloway County, Kentucky. She was a member of the Dexter Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William D. Thorne; her parents, Solon Duncan and Lydia M. Smith Overby; step father, Elvis Overby; two daughters, Geneva Butler and Melessa Thorne; brother, Tim Overby; sister, Shirley Houston and a grandson, Christopher Wayne Butler.

Surviving Mrs. Thorne is her son, David Thorne, wife Carolyn of Dexter; daughter, Tracy Thorne of Dexter; brother, Dickie Overby, wife Leslie of Nashville; sister, Wilma Green of Dexter; six grandchildren, Chris, Emily, Paul, Carla, Amy and Mindy and nine great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, January 12, 2015 at the Imes Funeral Home and Crematory, downtown Murray. David Little and Carl Butler will officiate.

Burial will follow at the Brooks Chapel Cemetery in Dexter, KY. Chris Thorne, Paul Camfield, Wendell Copeland, Terry Adams Dickie Dumas and Dave Singleton will serve as pallbearers. Chad Cook and Kenny Copeland will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive visitors between the hours of 5-8 PM on Sunday, January 11, at the funeral home.
