Joseph Hart ”Joe” Wilson, age 87,  passed away Sunday, July 14, 2019 at  Anna Mae Owen Hospice House in Murray, Ky.

Joe was a veteran of the United States Army.  He was an educator with the Marshall County School System, having served as a teacher, coach, and principal.  He retired as principal of Jonathan Elementary School.

Joe was a member of Dexter Hardin United Methodist Church where he served in offices and was a long-time teacher of the Senior Adult Sunday School Class.  He was a member of Hardin Masonic Lodge and Marshall County Retired Teachers.

Joe is survived by his wife Nell J. Wilson of Murray; two sons: Joseph Ralph Wilson, wife Nora, of Benton and James Russell Wilson, wife Cindy, of Hardin;  five step children: June Williams, husband Roy, of Murray, Myra Cleaver of Benton, Dale Woodall, wife Patsy, of Almo, Rick Woodall of Almo, and Max Gore, wife Becky, of Benton;  two granddaughters: Natasha Wilson of Benton and Shea Wilson of Springfield, TN; eight step grandchildren: Terry Cleaver, wife Kelly, of Fort Myers, FL, Roy J. Williams, wife Teresa, of Murray, Tracy Cleaver, wife Tammy, of Murray, Jana Amalfitano, husband Rob, of Murray, Beth Morehead, husband Matt, of Almo,  Shawn Gore, wife Teresa, of Almo, Mechelle Morgan, husband Mitch, of Murray, John Gore, wife Susan, of Benton, and Samantha Wisehart, husband Wess, of Almo;  three great grandchildren, 16 step great grandchildren and three step greatgreat grandchildren.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents Monroe and Blanch Black Wilson, his first wife Rachel Mohler Wilson, granddaughter Ashley Wilson and step grandson Mark Williams.

Services will be at Collier Funeral Home in Benton, Ky. with visitation Saturday, July 20 from 5 to 8 p.m. and funeral service at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 21, with Rev. Richard Burkeen and Rev. Sam Morehead officiates and  John Gore soloist. Burial with military honors will be in Pace Cemetery, Hardin, Ky.

Memorial contributions may be made to Anna Mae Owen Hospice House or to Dexter Hardin United Methodist Church.
