Mr. Gupton was born January 28, 1943 in Paducah, KY to the late Ira and Hilda Gupton.
He graduated from Paducah Tilghman High School in 1961 and Western Kentucky University in 1966. Joe had a career in banking first, with Citizens Bank in Paducah and retired from BB&T in Murray.
Joe was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Murray and a former active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Paducah. He was a long time member of the Optimist Club of Reidland and Murray, serving as president in Murray.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Gupton was preceded in death by two sisters, Martha Elias and Joan Hinkler and a brother, Wilbur Gupton.
Joe is survived by his wife, Ann Gupton of Murray; two daughters, Betsy Horsey of Murray and Sheri Pennington and husband Stephen of Gadsden, AL; a son, Andy Gupton and wife Emily of Murray; seven grandchildren, Joey, Mattie and Andy Horsey of Murray; Grayson and Kate Pennington of Gadsen, AL and Mirielle and Isla Gupton of Murray.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00 PM, Monday, May 16, 2016 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Murray.
The family will receive visitors from 4-6 PM, Monday, May 16, 2016 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Murray.
