James “J.W.” Cornwell, 84, of Paducah died at 11:54 AM Sunday, May 3, 2015 at Lourdes Hospice Care Center.
Mr. Cornwell was a retired Conductor/ Brakeman for the Illinois Central Gulf R.R., a Veteran of the Navy during the Korean War, a member of Free Gopel Church of Paducah and American Legion Post 31 of Paducah.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Cornwell of Paducah; three sons, Gary Steven Cornwell of Boaz, Michael R. Cornwell of Boaz, Tom R. Cornwell of Paducah; one daughter, Sara Fairfield of Boaz; two sisters, Jo Ann Berkley of Boaz, Joyce Grimm of Boaz; 6 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Rayburn Cornwell and Mamie (Keeling) Jackson; one brother.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, May 7, 2015 at Hughes Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Bob Berkley and Rev. Jim Glover officiating. Burial will follow at Symsonia Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home.
