Helen P. (Pat) Seargent Barrett, 93, of Murray, Kentucky, went to be with Jesus on Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017, at Spring Creek Health Care in Murray while with her family.
She was born on September 10, 1924, in Blackstone, Virginia . Her parents were Fannie Carter Fowlkes and Ernest Lee Pettus.
Pat was a follower of Jesus, and she grew to know Him even more closely in her later years. She was born and raised in Virginia, but Pat was a world-traveler. She was especially fond of Florida and lived 30 years in Pompano Beach . She enjoyed the water, boating, watching sports (especially baseball), sewing, and playing bridge. Some of her jobs included office manager of her first husband’s surveying business, managing condominiums, and census work. She loved life, her family, a good cheeseburger, and to laugh and make others laugh.
She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband- F.T. (Sarge) Seargent, second husband- Elmer A. (Sonny) Barrett and siblings; Ruth, Lois, Landon, Holley, Allie, Elizabeth, and Annie.
Pat is survived by her sons; Forriest Trice (Butch) Seargent, Jr. and wife Jan, and Anderson Lee (Drew) Seargent. She was affectionately referred to as Granny P, and is also survived by her grandchildren; Trice Seargent and wife Kristen, Todd Seargent and wife Monica, Douglas Couron and wife Susan, Jolynn Hill and husband Stephen, and Eric Seargent along with many great-grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Pat’s life at 5:30 PM on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at the Heritage Chapel of Imes Funeral Home, 1804 Highway 121 Bypass North, Murray. Brent Armstrong will officiate.
Her family will receive visitors from 4:00-5:30 PM on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Anna Mae Owen Residential Hospice Home, 959 KY-94, Murray, KY.
