Gerald Wayne Thompson, 70, of Hickory, died Thursday at his home.
Gerald was born in Mayfield, KY on July 16, 1944 to the late Raymond and Alma Wyatt Thompson. He retired after 32 years employment with General Tire and was a member of United Steel Workers #665.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Farmer Thompson.
He is survived by his children, Wayne Thompson and wife Missy of Hickory, Curtis Thompson and wife Shelly of Hickory, and Katrina Huss and husband Ben of Hickory; grandchildren, Ashley Thompson Sandifer and husband, Brandon, Tiffany Troutt Huss, Kassy Huss, Bekah Thompson, Kyler Thompson, Gunner Thompson, and Gage Thompson; two great-grandchildren, Colton and Brailey Sandifer; two sisters, Beverly Lee of Hickory and Deborah Thompson of Boaz; and one brother, Gary Thompson of Boaz.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm Sunday at Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home with Pastor Jared Baker officiating. Burial will follow at Clarks River Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday evening from 5-8pm at the funeral home.
