Thomas Elsey George, 100, of Bardwell, passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2019 at Countryside Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing.

 

Thomas was born December 28, 1918 in Carlisle County to the late Edward and Mary Elsey George.  Mr. George was a member of Bardwell Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years.  He was a veteran of World War II serving in Germany, Italy and North Africa, earning five bronze stars.   He was a member of Bardwell Masonic Lodge, a Charter member of 5409 VFW and served on the Selective Service System for many years.

 

Thomas is survived by his wife, Ruby Jo Allen George; step granddaughter, Nancy Schoenheide of Livonia, Michigan; two sisters, Evelyn Wilson of Bardwell, Mona Moyers of Bardwell; along with many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. 

 

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Viola Foren George; two brothers, William B. George, J.T. George; one sister, Kathryn George, and his parents.

 

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 2, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Bardwell Baptist Church with Rev. Chris George officiating.  Burial will follow the service at Roselawn Cemetery.

 

Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 1, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Milner & Orr of Bardwell with Masonic Rites beginning at 7:00 p.m. and on Monday, December 2, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at Bardwell Baptist Church.
