Shirley Sphinx, 86 of Gilbertsville, Kentucky died on Monday, July 21, 2014, at Marshall Co. Hospital in Benton, Kentucky. She was retired from Chrysler Corporation where she worked on the Assembly Line. She was a member of Sharpe Baptist Church.
Born Thursday, December 8, 1927 in Old Forge, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late George Allen and the late Florence (Randall) Allen.
Surviving are her husband, Johnnie Sphinx of Gilbertsville, KY; son, David John Sphinx of Arlington, KY, daughter, Deborah Ann Heino of Marquette, MI, brother, Eugene Allen of Belair, MI; 10 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Lucille"Cindy" Sphinx; 3 brothers; and 2 sisters.
A Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, July 25, 2014 at Collier Funeral Chapel located at 211 West 5th St. Benton, Kentucky 42025 with Johnnie Sphinx officiating.
Interment will follow in Howard Cemetery, Benton, KY.
Visitation will be held between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Collier Funeral Home.
