Carlisle County | Nov. 17, 1944 | Aug. 30, 2016

Sandra Kaye Wallace, beloved daughter, proud mother “,Meemommy”, and friend, died surrounded by her loved ones late Tuesday, August. 30, 2016, in her daughter’s home in Kirksey, Kentucky.  She was 71 years old (and would hate that you know that).

Ms. Wallace was born November 17, 1944 in Cunningham, Kentucky.  She grew up in Carlisle County and eventually moved to Murray, Kentucky to further her education.  Most recently, she was a commercial real estate agent, helping to broker deals that brought restaurant including Applebee’s and Ryan’s Grill to Murray.  Before that, she was a business teacher for many years, always going above and beyond for her students in various adviser positions for business clubs like DECA and the Future Business Leaders of America.  She earned a bachelor’s degree in business education and a master’s degree in education, both from Murray State University, and was named in Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges (a fact she liked to repeat often, especially when she thought her grandchildren needed some extra motivation).  She was known in her family for throwing a great birthday party, her affinity for dancing and singing “Don’t Worry Be Happy”, and never being seen by anyone, ever, without wearing lipstick and a fresh manicure.   She loved all with unconditional love, never met a stranger, and always had sweets in her home.

Ms. Wallace was preceded in death by her son, Michael Shane Wallace, and her parents, Claude and Harriett  Hayden.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Tonya and Chip Edwards; her sister, Linda Pearson; her grandchildren: Ashley Edwards Walker and Chip Walker, Whitley Edwards, Codie and Katherine Wallace, Haley Edwards, Autumn Wallace, Seth Wallace. Mckenzie Wallace; and great grandchildren: Carson Edwards, Tristin and Kensleigh Wallace.

Visitation will be held at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Bardwell on Friday, September 2, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  A celebration ceremony will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 3, at the Edward’s home in Kirksey, Kentucky with Chip Walker officiating. You may contact the family for directions by calling 270 227-5394.

Please raise a lukewarm can of Diet Coke (our Meemommy’s drink of choice) to celebrate the life of this wonderful, kind woman.  She is and will always be loved.  We are so happy she is finally free!
1 Peter 4:1 Therefore, since Christ suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same purpose, because he who suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin.
