Jewell, Preston

Mr. Preston Alexander Jewell, 84, of Murray passed away Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at the Anna Mae Owen Hospice House. Mr. Jewell was born on August 7, 1934 in Calloway County to the late Arthur and Ruby Knight Jewell. He proudly served his country for 20 years in the United States Navy where he retired as an Aviation Electrician 1st Class. He served in Korea and China. Later, Preston retired from General Tire and was a member of Grace Baptist Church. Those preceding him death include his wife, Marie Rogers Jewell; two daughters, Cynthia Jean Enoch and Gail Marie Jewell; three sisters, Euvanell Erickson, Euple Rowland and Norma Jean Hale, along with three great grandchildren. Those left to cherish his memory include two daughters, Sheryl Walker (Don) of Murray, Darla Warren (Allan) of Wichita, KS; a sister, Doris Ann Tabers (Bernard) of Brentwood, TN; seven grandchildren, Daysha Doss (Troy), Shanna Mathis (Will), Devany Griggs (Rusty), Tera McDowell (Marcus), Chelsey Stamps (Grant), Ashley Vaughn (Dean); David Roberts; three step granddaughters, Brittany Walker Smith, Augusta Walker, Kaylie Vaughn, one step grandson, Nathan Vaughn; two step great grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. The funeral service for Mr. Jewell is set for 11 AM on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at the Heritage Chapel of Imes Funeral Home, 1804 Highway 121 Bypass North, Murray. Brett Miles will officiate and burial will follow at Murray Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers include Will Mathis, David Roberts, Ethan Seifert, Rusty Griggs, Grant Barrow, Dean Vaughn and Carter Hicks. The family will receive visitors from 5 PM-8 PM on Friday, November 9, 2018 at the Heritage Chapel. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Gideons International, PO Box 140800, Nashville, TN 37214-0800. The Heritage Chapel of Imes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
