Mr. Virgil Rushing, age 91, of Metropolis, IL, passed away on September 24, 2016 at Metropolis Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 30, 2016 at the Victory Full Gospel Church with Rev. Jack Rushing and Bro. Aaron Crainshaw officiating. Burial will follow in the Metropolis Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Rushing was a member of Victory Full Gospel and worked for Trunkline Gas Co. for 33 years.
Virgil is survived by four children, Jackie Rushing and wife Sue, Jerry Rushing and wife Sherry, Joey Rushing and wife Tina Marie, and Tammy Jane Rushing; five grandchildren, Susan M. Rushing, Jason Rushing, Barry Adams, Marisa Melcher, Connie Joe Rushing Wiley; 11 great grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter; one sister, Billye Frances Pollard; one brother, Charles Culver.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earnest and Ophia (Comer) Rushing; wife, Betty Jane (Gilbert) Rushing; stepson, Roger Turner; one great-great grandson, Joe Wiley; two brothers, Thomas Leon Rushing and Earnest Rushing Jr.; one sister, Catherine Lindsey.
Friends may call to the Victory Full Gospel Church on Friday, September 30 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to the Victory Full Gospel Church 2795 Old Marion Road Metropolis, IL 62960.
