Theauthor "Ted" Roberts, 73, of Paducah died at 3:11 AM on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Ray & Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center in Paducah.

Ted was born on October 19, 1943 in Selmer, TN to Mr. William Roberts and Katie (Irving) Roberts. He later married Diana (William) Roberts on May 16, 1963 in Los Angeles, CA. After Theauthor graduated high school he attended several colleges to further his education in Accounting, Senior Accounting, Electronic Engineering Technology, and Business Administrative Management. He attended the following colleges; Olympia Junior College in Olympia Washington from 62-63, 66-68 Lasalle Extension University (BA), 68-70 Institute of Electronic Tech (Associates), 72-75 PEDC Norman, OK where he had taken additional courses corresponding with his degree, 77 Draughons Business College for Business Administrative Management, 78-79 OIC/A Academy where he received a diploma in Management, 83-84 he took correspondence classes at PCC, 1984 Behavioral Science Club, Military Correspondence Courses and General Correspondence Courses, then In 1986 he attended  EVV9 MCS/EI/QWL Training. In 1986 Mr. Roberts organized The Ben Franklin Stamp Club at Wickliffe Elementary School, from 02-77 - 08-78 he was a Legislation Assistant (National APWU/AFL-CIO), a member of the Post Master General's Speakers Bureau in 1991 and a member of National League of Postmasters of the United States, 1990-1992 he was a Chairman of Postal Committee in Collaboration with Ballard County Sequential Commission: a 3 year celebration of the 150th anniversary for the founding of Ballard County, in 1993 he was a member of Consumer Advisory Council with Attorney General Chris Gorman which included; legislature, telephone solicitations, business opportunities, charitable solicitations, transient merchants, and bait advertising. Theauthor was a member of Wickliffe Chamber of Commerce from (87-02), Miracle Worker EI/QWL Team (87-02), Advisory Board of the Purchasing Area Displaced, Home-Maker Program (79), Mayor's Taskforce on Human Rights in Paducah (79), Public Relations Director in Paducah, KY Local APWU/AEL-CIO (78-83), Commissioner of the Paducah Human Rights Commission (78-80), EEO Specialist for the Council of Organization (78-80), Vice President of the Paducah, KY Chapter NAACP (78-80), member of the Advisory Board of Directors of the State AFL-CIO PAR Program, Kentucky Colonel (1976), member Royal Arch Chapter of Selmer, TN (72), Past Patron and member of Queen Ester Chapter #5 O.E.S. (66-85), Cresent Lodge # 70 F.A.M. (66), Executive Director of JPA/PCC (79-80), Director of Research/ Education APWU AFL-CIO (74-80), National Field Rep. National APWU/AFL-CIO (72-77), Chief Installment Stewart of Paducah, KY Local APWU/AFL-CIO, President of Student Government McNairy County High School (61-62), Organized Ben Franklin Lab at Wickliffe Elementary, Associate Member of Fraternal Order of Police (77-07). Ted was the first African American Postmaster from Western KY and Southeastern, IN. He retired from the Postal Service in Wickliffe, KY in August of 2001. He was a Veteran of the Navy during the Vietnam War and was of the Methodist faith.

He is survived by his wife, Diana Roberts of Paducah; one son, Brian Roberts of Brookport, IL; three daughters, Danine Roberts Robinson of Paducah, Sabrina and Jamey Ramey of Paducah, Theaudrey Roberts of Paducah; three brothers, James Roberts of Paducah, George Roberts of Selmer, TN, Larry and Judy Roberts of Columbus, GA; two sisters, Alma Roberts of Selmer, TN, Bettye Perkins of Selmer, TN; four grandchildren, Matthew Roberts, Julian Roberts Robinson, Katelyn "Princess" Ramey, Casey Ramey; two aunts, Mary Katherine Amos, Peggy Jean Neal; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Katie (Irving) Roberts and William Edward Roberts; one son, Theauthor Roberts II; one brother, Harry Roberts.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at Greater Lincoln Heights Missionary Baptist Church in Paducah.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at Greater Lincoln Heights Missionary Baptist Church in Paducah with Rev. Donna Hawkins officiating.

Burial will be held at 12:00 PM Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville, KY.
