Rozita, “Z”, C. Baker Walters, age 63, of Lexington, formerly of Paducah, passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at her residence.

She was a member of the Historic Pleasant Green Missionary Baptist Church in Lexington and a graduate of Kentucky State University where she received a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.  She was formerly employed at Paducah Tilghman High School as an In School Detention teacher, at the Mayfield Group Home, was a correctional officer at Eddyville State Penitentiary, and was the first black female officer for the city of Paducah’s police department.  She was a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority and a veteran of the US Army, serving during the Vietnam era.

She was preceded in death by her husbands Reverend Keith C. Walters and Robert Lee Patterson, Sr., her parents James Thomas Baker and Evan Lewis Baker, and one sister.

She is survived by two daughters; KeNeshia C. Donelson, Je’Na Patterson-Cole; one son; Milo D. Patterson  all of Paducah; eight grandchildren; two sisters; Janice Holman and Ramona Baker-Jones both of Lexington, KY; two brothers; James Baker of Miami, FL and Blair Baker of Los Angeles, CA; several nieces, nephews, cousins.

Services are scheduled for Saturday, January 20, 2018, 12 Noon, at Ninth Street Tabernacle Ministries with Reverends Dr. Thaddyeus W. Thompson Sr. and Raynarldo Henderson officiating. Burial with Military honors will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Friends may also call on Saturday, at the church from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.
