Mattie Louise Spears, 83, of Metropolis, IL formerly of Gobler, Missouri died Saturday, September 23, 2017.

Born on October 31, 1933 in Okolona, Mississippi.  Mrs. Spears was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church of Metropolis.

Survivors include 3 daughters, Gaytel (RC) Gates of Wardell, MO, Viola (Paul) Brown of West Memphis, AR, Adella (Bruce) Meadows of Metropolis, IL; two sons, Kertis (Machelle) Riley of Steele, MO and Goeffrey Spears of Blytheville, AR; one beloved aunt, Vinetter McAfee of St. Louis, MO; 31 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; and many cousins and in-laws who were more like her sisters and brothers.

Mrs. Spears was preceded in death by her parents, Johnny DeVaul and Pinkie, her husband Mingo Spears Jr.; infant twin daughters; 3 sons, Leonard McAfee, George Riley and Dwight Riley; 1 grandson; 1 great granddaughter; 1 great grandson.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Aikins Farmer Funeral Home.

Funeral services will follow at 12 p.m. on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Aikins Farmer Funeral Home, with Pastor Orlando McReynolds officiating. 

Burial will follow at 4pm on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at United Missionary Baptist Cemetery in Gobler, MO.
