Lelbert H. “Leb” Dunning, age 90 of Metropolis, Illinois passed away at 6:45 am on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Southgate Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Monday, January 28, 2019 at Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home with Pastor Joey Dunning and Pastor Steve Heisner officiating. Burial will follow in the Metropolis Memorial Gardens.
Lelbert was retired from Allied Signal, a member of the First Baptist Church of Metropolis, and a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean war.
Lelbert is survived by his wife of 60 years, Catherine (Windhorst) Dunning of Metropolis, IL; daughter, Gina Dunning and husband Butch Jones of Metropolis, IL; son, Joey Dunning and wife Patricia of West Frankfort, IL; grandchildren, Laura Woolard and husband Tony, Christian Dunning, Makayla Dunning; sister, Eva Eulene Schuler of Metropolis, IL; brother, Sam Dunning of Metropolis, IL; sister-in-law, Maxine Schneider of Metropolis, IL; several nieces and nephews.
Lelbert was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Gertrude (Kingsley) Dunning; sisters, Lucille Dowell and Ava Erlene Thornley; brothers, Fred Dunning, Jack Dunning, and Hillis Dunning.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 28, 2019 from 9 am to 11 am at the Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home in Metropolis.
