Jesse Kenneth Spears, 76, of Vienna, IL died on Monday, May 23, 2016 at his residence after a long brave battle against cancer.

Ken Spears was born in High Point (Paducah), KY. He was the owner of Dirt Works Excavating and Spears Septic Systems in Paducah.  Prior to that he owned a motorcycle shop in Brevard County, Florida and was also a police officer in Washington, D.C. and then Titusville, FL.  

An avid motorcyclist, he won the 1978 Florida Enduro Championship and continued riding motorcycles, enjoying adventure touring.

Survived by his wife of 38 years, Genie Stewart-Spears; two sons, Jeffrey Spears and wife Shawna; Scott Spears; three daughters, Kathy Manthey and spouse Dale, Sydel Spears, Jesseca Bailey and son-in-law Jerrod; one sister; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and a great many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Robertson Spears, Lennie Brantley Spears and a daughter, two brothers and one sister.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Spears’ home in Vienna on June 12.

The family asks that donations be made in Ken Spears’ honor to the Heather Treat Memorial Fund P.O. Box 98 Vienna, Il 62995 to benefit other cancer patients.
