Doris (Korte) Krueger, known by many as Mawgee, age 87 of Metropolis, Illinois passed away at 6:00 pm on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Lourdes Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Rev. Timothy A. Bean will officiate. Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery in Metropolis.
Doris married Gilbert Krueger on October 6, 1951 in Metropolis, Illinois and he preceded her in death in 1991. She was a beautician and owned her own beauty shop for many years. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
Doris is survived by her daughter, JoNell Barnes of Metropolis, IL; her son, David Wayne Krueger and wife Gaila of Raleigh, NC; 4 grandchildren, Austin Krueger of Raleigh, NC, Lori Bunting and husband Blue of Imperial, MO, Amanda Box and fiancé Justin Kindle of Metropolis, IL, and Lindsey Barnes of Paducah, KY; 6 great grandchildren, Gavin, Isaac, and Asher Bunting of Imperial, MO, Paige and Hunter Box of Metropolis, IL, and Alexis Mitchell of Paducah, KY; 2 brothers, Lester Korte and wife Marie of Belknap, IL and Marvin Korte and wife Mary of Belknap, IL; brother-in-law, Lester Krueger and wife Edna of Metropolis, IL; 2 sisters-in-law, Dorothy Farris of Metropolis, IL and Joann Kruger of Anderson, IN; several nieces and nephews.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband and her parents, Dewey and Ruth (Hinners) Korte.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 from 6 pm to 8 pm at the Miller Funeral Home in Metropolis and on Wednesday from 9 am until 11 am at the church.
