Sue was a very active and dedicated member of the White Oak Missionary Baptist Church where she had served in the Missionary Society, on both the praise team and the culinary staff. She even sang in the church choir. Sue, a 1967 graduate of Heath High School, attended Waubonsee Community College in Sugar Grove, IL. She then was hired as a laborer with the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad and joined the Railroad Union.
Sue was a wonderful grandmother who nurtured and loved her grandchildren. She was filled with great love for her nieces and girl cousins due to the fact she had all boys and nephews who she didn’t deprive of her love as well. Sue was quite fond of singing and talking on the phone with her relatives and good friends. She also liked to cook, keeping her home immaculate, doing hair, and shopping for the latest fashions and shoes.
Sue’s presence will be greatly missed by her family and friends including: Her Three Sons, Pedro (Tracy) Bacon of Surprise, AZ, Tim Bacon of Murfreesboro, TN and DeCovan Bell of Paducah, KY; Seven Grandchildren, Tiaira Ballard of Paducah, KY, Xavier Bacon of Prattville, AL, Amarian Patterson of Paducah, KY, Travon Halliburton of Mayfield, KY, DeCovan Bell, Jr. of Paducah, KY, Clayton Bacon of Portage, MI and Deyonte Bell of Paducah, KY; Three Great-Grandchildren, Khalani Ballard and Raziyah Brown, Both of Paducah, KY and Braxton Bacon of Prattville, AL; Four Brothers, Herbert Bacon and Del (Claire) Bacon Both of Jackson, MI, Ray (Leola) Bacon of Detroit, MI and Ricky Bacon of Paducah, KY; Two Sisters, Alice Bacon of Paducah, KY and Donna Williams of Princeton, KY; One Uncle, Otis Titsworth of West Paducah, KY and A Host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and Friends.
Not only was Sue preceded in death by her parents, but also her son, Byron P. Bell; two brothers, Harold Bacon, Robert L. Bacon and one sister, Bettye J. Shaw.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, October 19, 2024, 12 noon at Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Calvin R. Cole Sr. and Reverend Benny Heady officiating. Burial will follow in Maplelawn Park Cemetery.
Family will receive friends on Saturday at the church from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.
