Gloria Deane Ferguson, 73, of Paducah, KY, left her earthly existence on Thursday, October 24, 2024, while a patient at the Ray & Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center in Paducah.
Gloria was born in Satillo, TN, the daughter of the late James C. Lowery, Sr. and Sophia Mae Parsons Lowery. After graduating from Paducah Tilghman High School, Gloria attended Draughons Business College and Paducah Community College. She received certification as a CNA and was formerly employed at Riverfront Terrace Nursing Home. She was employed for several years at Walmart as a cashier at the service desk.
Gloria was an active member of Burks Chapel African Methodist Church. She faithfully served as a Sunday School teacher, in the YPD (Young People’s Department), on the Usher Board and Jr. Usher Board, the Culinary Staff and the Addie Lucas Missionary Society. She loved going to Sunday School and providing transportation and assistance to the older stewardesses of the church even though she was not a stewardess. Helping was part of her service.
Gloria was a natural caregiver to her family, but she somehow managed to find time to enjoy things for herself. She loved watching the stories on television, sewing and doing crossword puzzles. Giving out sweet treats to the neighborhood children and spending time with her best friend and sister, Wilma Twig, made her especially happy until her passing.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Wallace Ferguson, Sr., her parents, one grandson, Brannon Clay Ferguson, one sister, Wilma Twig, and two brothers, James Albert Lowery and John Henry Lowery.
Left behind to cherish fond memories of Gloria are One Daughter, Fershun Ferguson; Two Sons, Wallace Leon Ferguson, Jr. and George (Shaketha) Clyde Ferguson, all of Paducah; Three grandchildren, Shantae Ferguson of Indianapolis, IN, J’Marcus Hill, and JaMarion Ferguson, both of Paducah; Four Great Grandchildren, Noah Ferguson of Hazard, KY, My’Elayne Thomas, Majesty Thomas, and Major Thomas, all of Paducah; One Brother, James Clyde Lowery, Jr. of Cleveland, OH; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
