Charles Edward Pipes, Jr., son of the late Charles Edward Pipes, Sr. and Jackie Jackson Pipes, passed away on Monday, October 6, 2025, at Baptist Health of Paducah. He was born on March 19, 1961, in Paducah, Kentucky, and at the time of his passing, he had lived for 64 years, six months, and 18 days.
After completing high school at Paducah Tilghman, he joined the United States Air Force, a decision he truly loved, and served his country until his honorable discharge in 1984. While in the Air Force, he worked as a jet engine mechanic and in telecommunications, among many other achievements.
Charles was an active member of St. Paul AME Church in Houston, Texas. He was a man with many gifts and talents, and he shared his knowledge with anyone who needed help, whenever and wherever he could. He was a tenacious worker who had a natural ability for repairing mechanical things, but he especially loved working on cars.
Charles was a very loving father who enjoyed playing football as a youth and watching it as he grew older. He spent a lot of time with his daughter, teaching her how to read design plans and playing video games together. In addition to his love of mechanics, technology, and football, Charles had a passion for birds, especially cockatiels, and constructing homemade aquariums.
Preceding him in death were his father, Charles Edward Pipes, Sr.; three brothers, Barron Gary, Patrick Rouse, and Jonathan Gary; his maternal grandparents, James and Mary Jackson; and his paternal grandparents, Mose Edward and Elizabeth Menefee Pipes.
Surviving family include his wife of 44 years, Valencia Pipes of Springfield, TN; a daughter, Brandi Pipes of Clarksville, TN; two grandsons, Alexander Pipes of Johnson City, TN and Dominic Martinez of Clarksville, TN; his mother, Jackie Jackson Pipes of Paducah, KY; two brothers, Mario Pipes of Paducah, KY and Roderick Pipes of Ellengood, GA; three sisters, Linda Woods, of Paducah, KY, Sheila Woods of Dayton, OH, and Carmon Scott of Las Vegas, NV; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services have been scheduled for Saturday, November 15, 2025, 1:00 p.m. at Pettus Rowland Funeral Home with Reverend Alvin Ware Jr. officiating.
At the request of the family there will be no visitation.
Burial with Military Honors will be at a later date in Ashland, TN.
