Little, Emma

Emma Clara Walker Little, 94, of Paducah, passed away on Monday, June 10, 2019. Mrs. Little was born on March 3, 1925 to Charlie and Bessie(Bethel) Walker. She was a member of West End Baptist Church for many years and a lifelong resident of Paducah. She grew up on the south side of Paducah during the Great Depression and along with her parents, five siblings and grandmother, survived the 1937 flood by living aboard the towboat Jane Rhea. In 1944, at the age of 18 she boarded a train and traveled alone to Venice, Florida to marry Bob Little who was stationed at the U.S. Army Base. Together they raised four sometimes incorrigible sons to become young men. By both word and example, their constant reminder was “that you are as good as anyone, and better than no one”.

Clara’s steady hand and gentle spirit were not limited to just her family. She was also a mother to the many boys who visited the house. She brightened the lives of the friends and neighbors who came to know and love her. Many of her dearest friends were at the Paducah Area Painters Alliance(PAPA) where she was a charter member and first learned to paint.

Mrs. Little was preceded in death by her parents as well as her beloved husband Bob; eldest son Charles Robert Little; sisters, Agnes Mae Shumaker and Jean Cornwell; brothers, Paul Walker, Charles Walker, Jr. and Joseph Walker.

She is survived by three sons; Terry(Carol), Stephen(Linda) and Phillip(Kathy) as well as four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

The family wishes to express its heartfelt appreciation for all of the extraordinary compassion exhibited by the caregivers and Lourdes Hospice.

There will be no visitation.

There will be a graveside service at noon on Thursday, June 13, 2019 at Mt. Kenton Cemetery with Rev. Terry Sills officiating.

Expressions of tribute to Clara’s life may be conveyed through a gift to the PAPA gallery, 124 Broadway, Paducah, KY 42001 or to your favorite charity.
