Michael "Mike" E. Thomasson, age 70, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2026, in his hometown of Paducah, KY, where he was born on September 7, 1955. A respected and beloved member of the community, Mike lived a life marked by selflessness, passion, and enduring friendship.
Mike dedicated his career to serving others as a Safety Officer for Air Products, where his commitment to safety and well-being made a lasting impact. His work was not just a job but a manifestation of his care for the welfare of others. Even after retirement, Mike continued to enrich the lives of those around him through his active engagement in local services and activities.
His service to the community was most evident through his longstanding association with the Ledbetter Fire Department, where he served valiantly as both a Safety Officer and an Emergency Medical Technician. Colleagues at the Ledbetter Fire Department will fondly remember Mike for his unwavering dedication and the warmth he brought to the team. Additionally, Mike was a proud member of the McCracken County Rescue Squad, exemplifying his passion for lifesaving and his commitment to the community he so cherished.
Beyond his formal roles, Mike was an avid Ham Radio Operator, connecting with people across the globe and sharing in the camaraderie that this hobby fosters. His voice was a beacon for others, and through this medium, he formed countless friendships and found a special kind of fellowship.
Mike will be remembered by many as the epitome of a good neighbor, a friendly face in the crowd, and a man who gave himself wholeheartedly to the causes he believed in. His selfless nature and passionate spirit made him a pillar in the Paducah community, touching the lives of everyone he met.
Though he has signed off for the last time, Mike's signal remains strong in the hearts of all who knew him. His contributions to Paducah and the lives he has touched stand as a testament to a life well-lived. Mike will be deeply missed, but his legacy of kindness, commitment, and generosity will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.
Mike is survived by his daughter, Mika Thomasson of Louisville, Kentucky; son, Paul (Gretta) Thomasson of Grand Rivers, Kentucky; one grandchild, Mason Thomasson; sister, Linda Sue Wark of Franklin, Tennessee; brother, Patrick “Pat” Thomasson of Memphis, Tennessee; and nephew, Lee Wark of Paducah, Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Thomasson, and his parents, Bobby Thomasson and Norma Myers Thomasson.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 19, 2026, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Jason Logsdon officiating. Burial will follow at Maplelawn Park Cemetery with Firefighter Rights.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
